One Lamb: Self Care

“Love you neighbor AS yourself.”  Mark12:30-31

“Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”

Jill Jackson-Miller/Sy Miller

The healing arts of psychiatry, psychology, and medicine have grown into integrative approaches, honoring the interplay between body-mind-spirit in illness and in healing. Dr. Paul Tournier, a pioneering Christian psychiatrist and a forerunner of the holistic movement in health care, saw the healthy human being as one with:

“A healthy body, serene mind, and powerful spirit. Created in love. Recreated in Mercy.”  Dr. Paul Tournier

When we spend time caring for our bodies through healthy nutrition, exercise, rest, and play, we are caring for God’s creation.

When we practice relaxation, gratitude, and meditation, we are creating serene minds within.

When we read spiritual writing and share in worship, singing, and service, we are unleashing our powerful spirits into a hurting world.

Self-care is loving ourselves so that we can love others. It is creating inner peace so that we can share it in our world.

It is our desire in One Lamb that the self-care practices that follow will support you in your journey towards health.
